Florida legislator doesn't like the word "alien" being applied to immigrants and she's not crazy about the "illegal" part either. Well, waah!
I don't remember college being quite this, um, helpful. And so

Just an observation on something relatively trivial but I thought it was characteristic and emblematic of the cultural disdain of firearms, at least in the hands of civilians. On last night's
"Medium" on NBC, the lead character (who works for the local district attorney's office)was being stalked by an escaped murderer whom she and the police knew wanted to kill her. Her husband and children were sent away and she was alone in the house at night (of course). Now, what would YOU suggest as a smart, preventative measure? Maybe something like - oh, I don't know - a gun to protect yourself from the escaped murderer who's after you? Nah, perish the thought!. So the police leave, the guy shows up and there she is, alone, to face this lunatic. And I'm yelling, "Where's your GUN, dummy? Shoot the s-o-b!!" But NOOOOO!! She runs screaming through the house as the guy tries to break in, goes out the front door, the police grab her, go in and THEY shoot the guy. Brother...
Maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe her character doesn't "like guns." Maybe it was just a plot device. Still thought it was stupid.
This is just sad.
