I knew there was a
serious rationale for preferring Paul McCartney to John Lennon, on several levels. A very good essay from a former Soviet citizen.
I thought Jeff Goldblum's
new TV series, Raines, was pretty good. The writing was sharp, witty and intelligent, and the characters were substantive. I've always liked Goldblum, all the way back to
Ten Speed and BrownShoe, his 1980 private detective series with Ben Vereen. Even with the mannerisms that made him an easy target for parodists I always found him likable and fun to watch. He's also very
tall. That being said, I couldn't have been the only one that noticed the elephantine nature of Jeff's ears, seemingly accentuated by the length of his sideburns. Just check out the pics at the NBC site linked above and see what you think. I suspect he may be the progeny of a dalliance here on earth by
Mr. Spock. Holy cow. Take a look. Seriously.
